History
Established in 1910, using an area of ground owned by Charles Matkin a local business man,it has since developed into an enthusiastic club catering for both men and women. In addition to operating as a mix club, the men and ladies have separate sections and are affiliated members of Bowls England and play according to their laws of the game.
A very friendly welcome is guaranteed to both new members and visitors and they will quickly discover the wide range of skills and expertise. The club is fortunate to have qualified coaches who are too delighted to be of assistance to both new bowlers and improvers.
In addition to opportunities for mixed bowling, both friendly and competitive bowls are played by the Men’s and Ladies’ sections. Details of Club, County and National competitions are displayed or club notice boards, some of these being suitable for bowlers who are beginning the game whereas others are more suitable for the experienced bowler. The Club Triples league continues to be popular and from 2009 the Club will now enter four teams in the Stamford League playing two wood triples according to the English Bowling Federation (EBF) rules.
