Established in 1910, the bowling club over the past years has  developed  into a vibrant bowling venue catering for both men and women. In addition to operating as a mixed club, the Men and Ladies have separate matches and are affiliated members of the English Bowling Association (EBA) and the English Women’s Bowling Association (EWBA) respectively and play according to the laws of the those associations. A very friendly welcome is guaranteed to both new members and visitors and they will quickly discover the wide rang of skills and expertise. The club is fortunate to have three qualified coaches who are only too delighted to be of assistance to both new bowlers and improvers.

Rep) Barrie Payne (Press Officer) and Eddie Owen (Tour Manager) departed  on 23 Feb for a weeks bowling at Albufeira, Portugal. We were accompanied by Doreen Payne (Food Manager) & Jenny Owen (Shopping Rep)

A 3:00 am start went as scheduled and the only problem we experienced traveling to East Midlands was that conversation in Rogers car was quite difficult until  we realised he had not switched on his hearing aid. A punctual and uneventful flight was spoilt only by an hours delay at Faro due to a faulty carousel. We finally entered the arrivals hall with some apprehension but Barrie had done a good job in diverting the Paparazzi.

In addition to opportunities for mixed bowling both friendly and competitive bowls are played by the men’s and ladies sections. Details of Club, County and National competitions are displayed on the clubs notice boards, some of these being suitable for bowlers who are just beginning the game whereas others are more suitable for the experienced bowler.
Members may obtain keys to the outside gate and club house door giving access to all facilities except the bar. Providing rinks are available and declared fit for play by the Green keeper, members may play any time during the afternoon and evening. The bar is usually open each weekday evening.
